Review~ NARS Sheer Glow Foundation ~ Revisited

Review~ NARS Sheer Glow Foundation ~ Revisited

To be honest it’s rare that any beauty product comes along that I can hand on heart say, for want of a better saying “rocks my socks.”

With every new cosmetic product release,  I have found myself becoming increasingly cynical. Due entirely too many past experiences of product let downs. And in my 28 beauty obsessed years, I have little more than a handful of products that make the holy grail list, this little bottle of magic (dramatic Moi?) being at the very top!!

NARS Sheer Glow foundation!

I did a post on this after first purchasing it a couple of years ago. If I remember rightly I declared it holy grail upon first use. I don’t want to waffle on all essay style on yo asses, so I thought it best to break down the reasons why sheer glow has remained top of my cosmetic dream team…

Coverage/application

A perfect medium coverage.Which can be built up to achieve a medium/full coverage. Application wise this works into skin best using fingertips or a damp beauty blender sponge. Which will give you the sheerest result.

Another thing to point out is that if you have slightly dry skin then this works best applied straight after moisturiser for extra “slip.” To blend into the skin perfectly.

Finish

In a word…flawless! Although the name Sheer Glow still baffles me a little bit. It is hardly sheer nor does it give the dewy finish you might expect. It is much more of a satin finish. However, if you are after immaculate, doll-like skin from your foundation then this is the one for you

Suitable for

I would recommend this for most skin types. However those with very dry skin and mature skin should definitely steer clear as this cling’ s on, and cakes on any dry areas. It could potentially look very heavy and unnatural on a mature skin. I tend to avoid using it if I am having a dry skin week.

Staying power

Sheer Glow is in it for the long haul. Even though as I have a normal/dry skin type, I don’t tend to use a primer or powder with it. This gives me a full 8 hours of wear before any touching up is needed.

Shade range

20 shades! From pale to dark skin and varying undertones. I originally purchased Deauville which is light with a neutral balance of Pink and Yellow undertones. Which, towards the end of the bottle I found too pale for me and have since purchased Fiji. Which is a light shade with a yellow undertone and perfect for my (NC25) skintone.

Price

A bit of a “type your pin number in whilst looking away” £30.50 for 30ml. However a little goes a long way. I wear it most days, and always for a night out (as it photographs well.) A bottle of lasts me around 4 months.

Availability

Available at NARS online/counters. And various on line stores (ASOS,  Space NK, Feel Unique etc.)

And that’s it.No bad news here folks.

I could be picky and point out that Mr Nars could have chucked in a plastic pump to make up for the price tag. but I won’t go there.

Have you tried NARS Sheer Glow?

benefit coralista blush

Review~benefit Coralista

Afternoon pretty ladies!
My latest blush crush is Coralista from benefit!

.

I received this boxed blush as part payment for helping to promote the new benefit mascara in Boots.

At first glance, I thought that Coralista was similar to NARS Deep Throat blush. Which I love to bits!

Coralista is a stunning pale coral/pink with a subtle gold sheen. The way I think best describes it is, If NARS Deep throat and NARS Orgasm had a baby, then this would be it.

The gold sheen in Coralista is a lot less obnoxious though. Which makes it more universally wearable than NARS Orgasm.

Besides the colour. What I really love about Coralista is how incredibly finely milled, pigmented, and soft in texture, it is.

This makes it apply like an absolute dream. So it can be worn as a subtle wash of colour. Or be very easily built up to achieve a much more intense colour payoff.

 Top Coralista swatched lightly,
Bottom swatch built up heavily

I also love how you get a massive 12g of product! Meaning I won’t have to splash out £23.50 for another one anytime soon!

 Happy days.

.

Do you own Coralista or any other benefit boxed blushers

What do you think of them?

NARS Eyeshadow Duo EGEA

Review~NARS E/S Duo:EGEA

NARS have such a fantastic range of eye shadow duos.

I debated for ages over which one to pick up while in Space NK last week. I wandered around for about 20 minutes covered in swatches. Eventually, I settled on ‘EGEA’ which I couldn’t pronounce to the lovely sales lady (seriously the staff in Nottingham Space NK couldn’t be nicer!!) and had to stutter my probably totally wrong pronunciation across the shop to her *shame.*

The annoyingly named EGEA duo.

‘long wearing crease resistant formula, in a series of uniquely paired colour combinations’

Currently, there are 33 duo’s available priced at £23.50 each. They are definitely uniquely paired. Some of the pairings look as though they shouldn’t work, like the hugely popular ‘Rated R’ but from what I’ve seen the colours compliment each other perfectly. EGEA is one of those pairings,

EGEA is one of those pairings. Basically, its green and purple (sage green and smoky lilac.) Not everyone’s cup of tea but one that stood out to me. Both are shades that I like to wear to make my (brown) eyes ‘pop’.

Heavily swatched

I find the colour payoff disappointing. The formula is also hard to blend and too powdery. Resulting in a lot of (shimmery) fallout. Whichever way it is applied I find the end result to be just blah. It’s ok. And that’s about as enthusiastic as I can get about it.

Having said that (and hating being so negative!) I really love all of my other NARS products and will most definitely check out the other duo’s that are on offer.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on NARS duos!

Which ones are worth checking out?
