TAG~What Does Your Original Naked Palette Say About You?

Aah the OG of the Naked series. Long before we had The vault, the basics, etc. Back in 2010 (I had to Google that. I could have sworn it was 2011!) we were all obsessed over the original (still beautiful) Naked palette the palette that launched a thousand Nude palettes…are you sick of them yet? I’m not! Neither am I sick of the Original Naked palette (Shocker alert- I never owned 2 or 3! I will for sure be getting ‘Naked Heat’ though!)

With the recent release of the Naked Heat palette, I thought it would be a good idea to show some love to the original. And also I’d like to feel a little better about my very beaten up Naked palette.

*Prays somebody has a worse off one than mine*

….. I’m presuming that tags are still a thing?? also that you ladies still have this Naked palette or this could be a little embarrassing. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Q1. Top 3 shades?

Mine are quite clearly ‘Sin’, ‘Half Baked’, and ‘Virgin’. ‘Half Baked’ for me is the standout shade in this palette. It’s the one my eye and brush gravitate towards everytime I open it up. Virgin is a great base shade. And I often use Sin as an inner corner highlight.

Q2. Most unused shade?

From the looks of the barely dented pan, it would have to be ‘Gunmetal’ for me. Although, I have no idea why I have hardly used it as it’s a stunning colour. Note to self- Shop palette stash more often!!

Q3. Favourite shade combination?

I have two favourite shade combo’s- For an every day look I go for ‘Naked’ all over the lid, with ‘Buck’ in the crease. I might add a little ‘Darkhorse’ to the outer edge if I want a slightly smokier look or a bit of ‘Sidecar’ or ‘Half Baked’ on the lid, depending on how much patience I have for the epic fallout from ‘Sidecar’ that is!

For a night out, if I’m reaching for this palette I will more than likely go for ‘Buck’-crease, I’ll foil ‘Half Baked’-lid ‘Sin’- Inner corner, and ‘Creep’-top lashline/outer ‘V.’

I’m definitely a Bronze/Gold, smokey eye kind of girl when it comes to makeup. While writing this post, I realised how little I stray from these tones. So I’m going to try and switch things up and venture into the ‘Toasted’, ‘Hustle’ area more often. I think it’s obvious that I have given this Naked palette a lot of love over the years. I might need to make the investment in a new one actually!

Overall result~ A careless Sinner who needs to learn to Hustle!

When it comes to icons, Tom Ford ranks as number 1 for me. Makeup collection aside, his whole philosophy on life from what I’ve read about him anyway, echo’s mine. I’m a little obsessed.

So with that said, you would think that I own a whole bunch of his makeup products, being a makeup artist and some kind of superfan. Sadly my Tom Ford cosmetics count stands at zero. I have a mortgage, and two children, one of whom is an image conscious teenager with a penchant for Supreme clothing and Yeezy’s. So when it comes to splashing out £50 on an eyeshadow, right now, it just wouldn’t seem quite right. F*cking Mum guilt at it’s finest!

I have a wishlist board on Pinterest (who doesn’t?) and one of the main things that I’m really longing for from it is the Tom Ford Eyeshadow Double Decked in ‘Naked Bronze.’ Maybe soon my Mum guilt will evaporate enough that I allow myself to make the purchase. Or maybe my biggest dream will come true and Tom will turn out to be my long-lost Uncle (my surname is actually Ford, I’m not completely reaching here!)

Anyway until either of the above happen I decided I’d recreate a look using less expensive products. I hope this helps out any of you that are in a similar boat to me. And by boat, I mean dingy as opposed to a luxury Yacht.

I know I technically cheated using MAC and Urban Decay Products, but they are kind of drugstore budget when compared to the Tom Ford range. The lashes aren’t my favourite if I’m honest. But on the whole, I really love the finished look. From images I’ve seen, the Tom Ford duo gives more of a wet look finish, which I know I would really appreciate, and is why it will be sticking around on my wishlist.

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear 24hr Foundation Review

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear, AKA the foundation that took away NARS Sheer Glow’s holy grail status! Yes, it’s been about 5 years since I declared that I had finally found “The one” in liquid foundation form. But for some reason NARS have been out of stock of so many shades in Sheer Glow, mine (Fiji) included. I held out hope that it would be back but to quote Eminem ‘Stan’ “It’s been Six months, and still no word.” So as you might have read here that I was lured into the Lancome life. And it’s good, I mean really really good!!

I can’t recall ever owning any makeup from Lancome, it’s a brand that I associate with more mature ladies and that puts me off, I wanna be young and hip ya know! And I realise that at 32 I’m probably classed as a mature lady (Ha!!) and saying things like “young and hip” do nothing to help my cause!!

Anyway, I’m on my third coffee now, and it’s obviously sending me on a tangent so I digress.

Here’s a breakdown of why Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear is my new *BAE (Hip?)

Coverage

Starting with the most important factor. Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear 24hr Foundation is a medium coverage foundation that can be built up to achieve a full coverage. This is my personal favourite. It has the ability to do this while leaving skin looking natural and completely flawless, it’s a foundation that could make you forget to conceal on a good skin day. But there is no cake in sight.

Application

I prefer to apply most foundation’s with my fingertips, always have. But I’ve tried this out with a few different tools, and it applies well with most brushes/ beauty blenders. Depending on your preferred coverage, I hazard a guess that Teint Idole will respond well to most application methods. Side note- it dries down pretty fast so quick blending is key.

24 hour wear?

Did I test this claim for the sake of this post? No. Who is wearing foundation for 24hours though? And why??? Bold claim b*llocks aside, this does have serious staying power!! My skin is normal/dry/dehydrated from 17000 coffee’s, and it stays put very comfortably from morning to evening without powder.

Suitable for?

As mentioned above it suits my normal/dry skin and lasts well without caking. Those with oily/combination skin will get on great with the oil free formula.

Price

The standard high-end foundation price of £31.50 for 30ml. And totally worth every penny!
