Kat Von D ‘Saint’ Eau De Parfum Review

Kat Von D 'Saint' EDP Review 1Kat Von D has after 8 years re-released by popular demand the delicious ‘Saint’ and ‘Sinner’ fragrances. I never owned either scent originally but I’m so happy to have picked up the 10ml EDP purse spray of ‘Saint’ while shopping in Debenhams yesterday.

I wasn’t really in the market for a new fragrance, I was, however, drawn to the stand housing ‘Saint’ and ‘Sinner’ like a magnet. The equally beautiful but contrasting Black and White bottles which represent Kat’s well known edgy side and her lesser known soft side, are just so eye catching! Proper dressing table candy!

Scent

Initially, being a rebel at heart I was first drawn to the Black bottle ‘Sinner.’ With key notes of patchouli, wood, and cinnamon. It’s  a spicier scent to its counterpart ‘Saint’ which turned out to be my preference. ‘Saint’ is a sweeter fragrance with key notes of Vanilla, musk, and Jasmine. It also contains caramel and mandarin to add to the sweet yet sexy scent. Or in other words the Key notes I am always drawn to when I fall for a perfume. See a list of my faves here. It’s definitely a very light, feminine and daytime appropriate scent. But that edge of musk/sexiness keeps it from being too girly and floral. That is something I appreciate in a perfume! And it’s why I think I’ll repurchase as soon as I finish the bottle.

Packaging

If you are after some serious packaging porn then look no further! The 50 and 100ml bottles are housed in gorgeous, intricately designed, handcrafted packaging. The design of which was hand sketched by Kat Von D herself who spent months perfecting the design which was apparently inspired by a cigarette lighter.

As mentioned I picked up the 10ml purse spray which I’m delighted to have. It’s great to have this smaller size as an option. Both for the handy, travel aspect, and to see how well you enjoy the scent before splashing the cash on a large bottle. Now that I have found out the two fragrances are complimentary and can be layered I’ve got an urge to go back and pick up a purse sized ‘Sinner’ as well!

Pricing/Availability

As well as the 10ml purse spray  (£18) both fragrances come in 50ml  (£52) and 100ml (£72) bottles. All are EDP, there’s no eau de toilette around the Kat Von D camp! Thumbs up for that!! Both fragrances can be purchased in Debenhams now.

Which one will you be picking up?

Friday Favourite- YSL Black Opium

I rarely buy perfume for myself, mainly because I wear the same one (Thierry Mugler ‘Alien’) 90 percent of the time. But a couple of months ago while browsing in Boots my Mum led me over to smell YSL Black Opium. She assured me it was the most amazing scent ever.

There is a saying ‘Mum knows best’…..

Seriously it is stunning!

The base notes are vanilla, the top notes black coffee, and the heart notes white florals. Which combined make it so unusual and just so beautiful!

A sweet, yet sexy, feminine scent. In my opinion, it is suited to both day and night time wear. If I had to pick I’d say that as there is a slight heaviness to it (though not overpowering like the original Opium) so it leans more towards being a night time appropriate scent.

I can’t finish without giving a tip of my hat to the bottle.

Black sparkles and Rose Gold! Thank you YSL my dressing table totally appreciates the packaging porn!!!

To say that I am picky when it comes to perfume is an understatement.I can name on one hand the amount of perfumes that I like. And would actually hand over my own money for! I am a creature of habit where fragrance is concerned. Mainly I wear Thierry Mugler’s Alien for all occasions. Perfume repurchases are a rare occurrence. Even when I find something I like I will generally become bored halfway through the bottle. Then revert back to my old faithful. So to purchase a scent on the internet without smelling it first is weird for anyone. But that is how the new addition to my small collection came about.

escentric 01 by escentric molecules is somewhat different. Most of you are probably aware that it has been given beyond rave reviews by those that wear it. (My favourite is from someone who was let off paying a taxi fare because the driver liked the smell so much!)

The blurb behind this scent is that compared to your standard perfumes which contain thousands of molecules, this contains just 1. I’m not going to pretend that I understand what this means! Science was always my least favourite subject at school. Basically, it is supposed to smell so amazing that it stops people in their tracks.Sold! When it arrived, I tore into the packaging like a woman possessed. This is how the scene played out…

Literally.can’t.wait.to.smell.like.a.goddess!!

*spritz*

“Hmm, did I buy CK one by mistake?”

*Double check*

…No…

So it wasn’t love at first sniff! To me, it smelled just like the musky older sibling of CK one. I liked it though and was interested in what my family and friends had to say.And in 3 weeks the feedback I have received has been….

Me…”Do you like my perfume?”

Boyfriend…”It’s OK”…

Best friend… “It’s OK”…

Friend…”Are you wearing D&G Light Blue?”

While I didn’t expect them to pick me up and rub me on themselves like a magazine sample (ok I did!) These were not the responses I had expected to get from a perfume that has had such amazing reviews.Anyway, I feel like I’m going off on a tangent. So cutting to the chase. At £30 for a 30ml bottle, I think that it’s a steal! Especially since it seems to be building up quite a cult following. The packaging is nothing special. The packaging is nothing special.I describe the scent as a citrusy musk, it’s almost manly if that makes any sense.

I wouldn’t recommend buying perfume online. I don’t dislike it by any means, but it’s not love.

So far I have not been asked by any random strangers what delightful scent I am wearing. Tragically, not been let off paying for anything! And if you happen to bump into me in the street and ask what perfume I am wearing I can safely say my reply will be, “Alien.”

Have you tried escentric 01?
