MAC has always had my heart when it comes to lipstick. I don’t know whether it’s a nostalgia thing, or if it’s just because they are that damn good. I do know that the vanilla scent plays a huge role in it! My first MAC lipstick was ‘Blankety,’ which is one that lives on the underrated list. ‘Modesty’, I feel, sits right beside it.
I bought ‘modesty’ with the intention of using it for my Brides. Over time it has slowly made its way into my makeup bag. I find it to be the perfect easy to wear colour. It makes me feel put together without being overly ‘done’ for a day most likely spent hanging out with a 2-year-old.
MAC describes ‘Modesty’ as a muted neutral Pink. In these pictures, I see that. But in real life, it leans more towards a Dusty Rose/Brown nude shade. At least it does on my lips. It is such a versatile nude in that it can pull a natural, everyday makeup look together and stand out, while also being a shade that can take a back seat and compliment a full on smokey eye! I love that!
I know that everyone is about the mattes these days, but I still love the comfort of a cremesheen! And while this might not have the staying power of a matte, I can definitely handle popping such a pretty colour in my bag and reapplying after a few hours.
